Conditions for registration |
To register within a special purpose scope of practice, a doctor must work:
- only within their registered scope of practice
- at a location approved by Council
- under the supervision of a registered doctor approved by Council, and
- only for the specified duration of the teaching, training, research, emergency or locum tenens.

Options within special purpose scope of practice |
To qualify for registration within a special purpose scope of practice, all doctors must:
- pass (or be exempt from) the IELTS English test in accordance with Council’s English language requirements
- hold a primary medical degree from a university medical school listed in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools, or the FAIMER Directory, and
- satisfy all criteria for the individual special purpose you are applying for.
