Who is this for? |
The special purpose scope is for doctors who wish to apply under one of the following categories:
- Teaching as a visiting expert
- Post-graduate training
- Research
- Locum tenens in a specialist post

Registration within a special purpose scope of practice under this policy is not a pathway to registration within a general scope or in a vocational scope of practice. |
How do I apply? |
To apply:
- Use the self assessment tool to help you find and complete the relevant form/checklist.
- Attach the correct documentation.
- Pay the appropriate fee.
- Send all of the above to the Medical Council office.

What happens next? |
Your application will be processed, using the Registration process (diagram).
