Council's experience is that medical education and clinical practice varies considerably from one country to another, and that these variations are even more significant in the area of specialist medical practice.
Council has therefore defined lists of approved postgraduate qualifications for the following scopes of practice:
Other postgraduate qualifications may be recognised for registration within a vocational scope of practice on a case-by-case basis.
If you are considering applying for registration within a vocational scope of practice and don't hold an approved postgraduate qualification, please use our vocational self assessment checklists to compare your postgraduate training, qualifications and experience.
If after completing the checklist it does not appear that your postgraduate qualification is likely to be suitable for registration within a vocational scope, you should return to the registration self assessment checklist and complete the checklist answering no to the question “are you a qualified specialist or do you have a postgraduate qualification“ to see if you can apply for registration through another pathway to registration.
Otherwise, you should return to the registration self assessment checklist and complete it answering yes to the question “are you a qualified specialist or do you have a postgraduate qualification“. |
