If you fulfil the above criteria, you will be registered in a vocational scope providing there are no outstanding discipline, competence or health issues which may affect your application.

How to apply
|
Under this option, to apply for vocational scope, you must also apply for registration within a general scope. Make sure you have the following:

Send all of the above, along with a fee of NZ$125, to the Medical Council office.

Provide the following information:
- personal details:
- name - address (including email) - phone/fax number
- scope of practice you are applying for
- qualifications (primary and post-graduate)

- Do you hold registration within a general scope of practice, and
- have you worked in New Zealand during the six months prior to application?
If YES, go to Step 3 and complete Section Two.
If NO, go to Step 4 and complete Section Three.

|
Two colleagues who are registered in the same vocational scope that you are applying for need to countersign the application form.
If you have formed a collegial relationship with another doctor to satisfy Council’s recertification requirements, you may use them as one of your two signatories.

|
Provide names and contact details of two professional colleagues (referees) who:
- work in the scope of practice in which you are applying, and
- are familiar with your current professional practice.
Note: We will contact these referees directly to request a reference. We may also contact the branch advisory body directly to confirm your professional standing.
Note: Your application can not be approved until references and confirmation of your standing have been received. Please ensure that the referees you nominate are expecting our request, as any delays with your referees will delay the processing of your application.

What happens next?
|
Council will acknowledge your application.
Approval: If Council approves your application you will be granted registration within a vocational scope of practice.
Decline: If Council proposes to decline your application, you will be:
- advised of the reasons, and
- given an opportunity to put your case to Council before a final decision is made
