Dr Faherty is required to participate in an approved recertification programme relevant to the vocational scope of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Dr Faherty may work outside the stated vocational scope in hospital based practice but must do so within a collegial relationship.

Under section 21 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003:
Effective 5 March 2013: Dr Faherty's general scope of practice is limited to obstetrics and gynaecology in any medical setting or to other areas of medicine in hospital-based practice only.
