Education Committee

Our Education Committee advises and makes recommendations to Council around ways to promote medical education and training in New Zealand. This includes the accreditation of medical schools and prevocational medical training providers, and prevocational medical training.

Purpose

The Education Committee (the Committee) is a standing committee of Council. The purpose of the Committee is to advise and recommend to Council ways to promote medical education and training in New Zealand in relation to:

  • Accreditation of medical schools
  • Accreditation of prevocational medical training providers offering an intern training programme
  • Prevocational medical training
  • Accreditation of vocational colleges and their vocational training and recertification programmes
  • Recognition of recertification programmes under section 118(e) HPCAA
  • Other education tasks or functions as delegated by the Medical Council of New Zealand
