Do I need a job first?

Yes you do.

If you are coming from overseas to New Zealand and you intend to be a registered doctor, to be "practising medicine", then you must have a job offer from a medical services provider.

One of the final steps to being accepted to practise medicine is to be interviewed by us, at which we confirm your identity, and that you have proof of a job offer in New Zealand.

We strongly recommend you complete our registration self-assessment tool and read our registration information before planning to practise medicine in New Zealand to determine your likely pathway to registration.

Start with this link to our self-assessment.

You will also need to satisfy immigration requirements to qualify to live and work in New Zealand.
