Find a Māori health provider
Whether you're Māori or non-Māori, you are welcome to visit a Māori health provider. What makes their care different from a non-Māori health provider is the kaupapa (principle) and delivery framework, which is distinctively Māori.
Finding a Māori health provider
Māori health providers deliver health and disability services to both Māori and non-Māori clients. What makes their care different is the kaupapa and the delivery framework, which is distinctively Māori.
If you'd like to see a Māori health provider, you can find one near you in the Māori Health Provider Directory which the Ministry of Health has put together. Māori health providers are listed by location, so you can easily find one near you.
Rongoā Māori is a body of knowledge that has as its core the enhancement of Māori wellbeing.
Rongoā Māori traditional healing is formulated in a Māori cultural context, in which the understanding of events leading to ill health and its impacts are addressed through a range of culturally bounded responses. These responses include rakau rongoā (native flora herbal preparations), mirimiri (massage) and karakia (prayer). For more information around Rongoā Māori, and for a list of Ministry-funded Rongoā Māoriproviders, please see the Ministry of Health website at the following link:
