Raising a concern or making a notification as a patient
Do you want to make a notification about the treatment you have received from a doctor or physician associate? If you are a patient, or a family member or support person to a patient, you have a number of options.

If you have concerns about the care you received, or about a doctor or physician associate's behaviour or professionalism, you can notify either the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) or the Medical Council of New Zealand (Council). We work closely together, but our roles are different.

You can make a notification directly to the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC). The HDC's role is to promote and protect your rights as set out in the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights (The Code).
